They say that tragedy plus time equals comedy. To give credit where it's due, President Trump has managed to shorten that time to mere seconds. From one gloriously disastrous fuck-up to the next, the Trump administration seems as terrifying as it is incompetent. This was perhaps best summed up online as:
House of Cards + Arrested Development = Trump Administration
And it got me thinking- if that's true, then who's who? Let's find out.
Donald Trump = George Bluth
Of course. Perhaps the easiest and laziest comparison, the Donald is clearly George Bluth. He's the family patriarch and head of the family construction business. He's fond of attaching his name to substandard construction projects.
He has questionable connections to overseas entities, along with his fair share of legal problems and sexual misdemeanours. A petulant man-child, he refuses to face the consequences of his actions, and has a "complex" relationship with Mexico.
She made it to the top by getting into an ill-advised relationship with George, but is now decidedly unsure about the whole thing. Possibly unhinged.
Jared Kushner = Michael
Michael is the 'responsible' one. He's the guy who basically keeps the organisation going and works hard to minimise everybody else's mistakes. In a highly dysfunctional family, he appears to be 'the sane one'. However, this disguises from the fact that he's actually deeply flawed himself, and arguably causes just as many problems as he solves.
Donald Trump Jr. = GOB
God bless him, GOB has always been a bit of a fuck up. Whenever he tries to prove himself and intervene in the family business, he has a knack of screwing things up worse than they were before he even showed up. He has a stunning lack of self-awareness and an overinflated ego.
Ivanka Trump = Lindsay Bluth
Poor Lindsay. Neither the oldest nor the youngest of the children, she overcompensates in order to gain the approval and attention of her father. With lavish tastes, she largely gets by on not being as much of a walking disaster as GOB.
Eric Trump = Buster Bluth
The runt of the litter, possibly dropped on his head when he was little. No one really knows what to do with him.
